Description:  A transfer run from the Southern crosses Central Ave in the background and begins its climb over the Huey P. Long bridge in Metairie. The NOPB works on their other trackage over the bridge as they probably do 360 days of the year. A few minutes later another SP transfer is photographed in just about the same location. Check out SP 7858 smoking up a storm.

Description:  Westbound train coming from the CSX and just crossing Central Avenue and it begins its travel over the Huey P. Long bridge. This image was shot in the mid-80's and was a regular afternoon transfer run to Avondale. The overpass in the background is part of the Earhart elevated expressway. Note the streetcar sign to the left of the train.

The parking lot where this shot was taken was closed to the public for some time but now the hospital is now reopened and I believe access to the parking lot is open as well.
