Description:  The conductor in UP 3427 looks on as a UP signal maintainer is examining the tracks at Queen Ave. crossing to determine why the crossing gates have been activated for the past few hours. While common in the Midwest, it is rather unusual to see an SD40-2 leading a manifest freight on the Brooklyn Sub.

Description:  While UP 3427 north was stopped for a malfunctioning crossing, it seemed an ideal time to get a detail shot of UP 2402, the second locomotive. In particular, I noted the new hardware on the trucks, including a gas shock and, I think, three new traction motors. I also note that this SD60M is self-start equipped.
