Home of the Admirals
Title:  Home of the Admirals
Description:  Farragut, Iowa "The Home of the Admirals", is a small town of about 400 in the southwest part of the Hawkeye State. This is the end of what's left of the BN branch from Red Oak. Originally the line used to run to the Council Bluffs-Kansas City line at Hamburg under the Burlington Route; a mixed-train ran the line into the late 1950s, giving the locals at least some passenger service. The part west of here was abandoned in stages from 1961 to 1971. Although the tracks are still in to Shenandoah (about six miles down these tracks) it doesn't look like many trains make it this far any more.
