Title:  80-ton GE
Description:  This General Electric drawing from May 1937 illustrates the basic appearance for 80-tonner serial numbers 12184-12188, which were built in October and November 1937 as demonstrators for the Cummins Engine Co. (Note that the step locations varied or changed over time.) Serial numbers 12184, 12186 and 12188 were subsequently sold to Republic Steel, while 12185 and 12187 went to the Northeast Oklahoma Railroad as 254 and 253, and in 1949 they became Louisiana Southern 505 and 504. Both of these units were scrapped at Chatham Iron and Metal in Savannah, Georgia.

Title:  Louisiana Southern 501
Description:  Louisiana Southern 501 was a 44-ton locomotive built by General Electric in December 1941. Most GE locomotives of this design weighed 45 tons, but the railroad specified that the 501 only weigh 44 tons to insure that it could be operated without a fireman. It cost $24,150, was eventually sold to the Pacolet Manufacturing Co. at Pacolet, SC and later went to Willamette Industries at Taylor, LA. (approximate date)

Title:  Erath Sugar Vulcan
Description:  This un-numbered Erath Sugar Co. loco was switching the company's mill along the Southern Pacific's Midland Branch at Erath, Louisiana. The loco had been built by Vulcan as serial number 4322 in August 1941. It was a 175-horsepower, 30-ton diesel-mechanical unit, built for use by the U.S. Navy at Corpus Christi, Texas. Description:  Southern Peru Copper Corp. RS11 No. 11 was parked next to the Kansas City Southern engine house at West Yard. The locomotive was originally high-nose Southern Pacific 5725 and then 2905, and was on its way from Morrison-Knudsen in Boise, Idaho to South America. Between June and September 1974 MK rebuilt SP 2905, 2912 and 2934 as SPCC 11-13. This unit had been completed on 29 July.

Description:  This Continental Grain Alco S2 was built as serial no. 73600 in July 1945 as Rock Island 724. Still wearing its original number, it was used at Continental's Westwego Elevator. The elevator was severely damaged by a grain dust explosion on 22 December 1977 and was subsequently rebuilt, but by that time the 724 had moved on and was known to have been used by Continental at Milwaukee.

Description:  Here was the Illinois Central Gulf’s lone SW900 still looking just like it did as Fernwood Columbia & Gulf 900. The FC&G was one of three Mississippi short lines that were included in the 1972 merger of the Gulf Mobile & Ohio with the Illinois Central. Although it was assigned ICG number 900, it was never repainted. It was sold to Kansas short line Hutchinson & Northern in 1983, where it received a 2-tone blue variation of its FC&G scheme and was renumbered 6.

Description:  This un-numbered 25-ton GE worked along the west bank of the Industrial Canal. It was built for Ideal as serial no. 30977 in May 1951, and was previously used at Ada, Oklahoma and Superior, Nebraska.
