Title:  AMTK 700
Description:  700 idles at Rensselaer. It will be going to pick up another unit and a mail car. 700 was repainted in 2004 into Phase Vb and then was repainted again into the Empire Phase III paint in 2017.

Title:  #68-24, The Adirondack
Description:  The Adirondack idles at Rensselaer. This station would be closed down by 2003 and these buildings were torn down. There is now a new high level platform here and the new station is south of the bridge. Also the Adirondack no longer operates with a baggage car.

Title:  #68-24, The Adirondack
Description:  #68 idles at Rensselaer. Since this was taken, the old station was closed and torn down replaced by high level platforms and a new station building. 710 was also repainted into Phase Vb in the coming year. It was repainted into the Phase III Empire paint in 2017. It also now has nose hatch that has replaced the nose numberboard.

AMTK 700
Title:  AMTK 700
Description:  700 idles briefly with another unit. It will head to the shop complex to grab a mail car. Roadrailers were attached to the Lake Shore at this time. Within a few years, this train would no longer run with roadrailers, maiil or reefers. Also the Amtrak platform no longer comes this far up. 700 would be repainted in 2004 into Phase Vb & again in 2017 into the Empire Phase III.

Triple Crown Roadrailers
Title:  Triple Crown Roadrailers
Description:  Roadrailers are parked here at Rensselaer station. They would be attached to the rear of the Lake Shore Ltd. Within a few years, this practice was discontinued. These tracks are now home to privately owned passenger cars. Also the Rensselaer platform no longer comes all the way up here.

Title:  Rensselaer Yard
Description:  Various motive power. FL9's 485 & 486 are spare power but will be leaving for Morristown & Erie in one month. F40 301 & 414 are in storage. 414 was wrecked in 2001. CF7 586 is also stored. The 700 is switching mail cars. Also Phase III paint on the 700 is gone after 2004.

AMTK 700
Title:  AMTK 700
Description:  700 and another unit are switching mail cars. 700 looks sharp! 700 was repainted in 2004 to Phase Vb and again in 2017 into the Empire Phase III. The platform used to come all the way up under Broadway. When the new station opened in 2003, the new high level platforms replaced these ground level platforms and the current station was located to the south of here. The Rensselaer shops are in the background.

Description:  700 & 823 shove a mail car north around the Rensselaer station area for tonight's Lake Shore Ltd. The Boston section section sits on the track to the right. Mail cars were discontinued a few years later. The platform here no longer exists. The current station is just to the south of here. It has high level platforms.

AMTK 700
Title:  AMTK 700
Description:  700 & 823 shove a mail car north for tonight's Lake Shore Ltd. 700 was repainted in 2004 Phase Vb and then in 2017 into the Empire Phase III paint. This Phase III paint scheme was sharp. 700 also has a nose hatch now that was cut in during 2020. It required the removal of the nose numberboard. This unit and 711 were the only units I am aware of that returned from Beech Grove with the numberboard intact. The hatches were cut in because Amtrak was operating into Grand Central for a time and with the narrow tunnels, MN has nose hatches on their own units. So Amtrak began to cut hatches in over time. 700 was the final holdout and now all 18 units have been refitted.
