Album Info:This photo of a L & N derailment was given to me from a friend who wanted me to share it with other railfans. This derailment took place in Nashville, IL way back in August of 1912 located on the North side of the tracks near the FS elevator which still stands today. The men on top looks to be standing on the bottom of the locomotive, but in fact that is where the track is located. If you are familiar with Nashville today, there is no hill(dropoff) there anymore. It is all filled in and a mining company building is there which is about 1/4 mile East of Highway 127. As you can see, the railroads back then had no concerns with safety and trespassing. I hope you enjoy, I sure did.
