Description:  A harbinger of bad things to come; UP power on a Mopac eastbound waits for a clear block on a cold March night in Maplewood. Lead unit UP 3339 would have a checkered career, being demoted to trailing unit only status as UP B3339, then being repainted and renumbered UP 1996 for the Atlanta Olympic celebration. Later it would also be UP 3101:2 and is extant as UP 3098. In contrast, second unit UP 2911 was scrapped before her fourteenth birthday. An unidentified Mopac U23B trails. Date approximate.
