Album Info:Providence & Worcester local NH-1 works out of New Haven, Connecticut, serving a variety of customers in central and southern Connecticut. On the Middletown Branch, the sprawling Tilcon Connecticut quarry and Perma Treat Corporation (a company that treats railroad ties) are serviced. Primary Steel and MSR Brick receive cars along the Berlin Branch, and lumber distributor 7D Wholesale is located in Rocky Hill along what is left of the Valley Line. On the Portland Running Track, Midstate Recovery/Murphy Road Recycling had been a customer until its building collapsed after a devastating snowstorm in January 2011. Back in New Haven, Gateway Terminal receives gondolas of steel billets on the Belle Dock Running Track. Occasionally, NH-1 (or sometimes an NH-1X) will work customers along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor between New Haven and Old Saybrook or Groton and interchange with local NR-2 out of Plainfield.

Description:  Nope. PW 3901 and PW 4001, the eastern units on train NH-1, depart Old Saybrook in the middle of the train. The reason for this is that the 20 TLTX hoppers following the locomotives are going to be shoved into the Tilcon quarry in Branford. Instead of leaving the units on the Northeast Corridor, it would be easier to throw the switch, back the 20 hoppers down the siding, throw the switch again, and the train can leave, saving 3 or 4 minutes.

Description:  Midstate/Murphy Road Recycling became a victim of one of January's brutal snowstorms when the company's roof collapsed under the weight of snow and ice. After a long period of time, the remnants of the building were finally trucked away and a wall was constructed. Train NH-1, seen on the extreme right side of the photo, will soon be delivering a few more of those MRRX gondolas so the company can ship away the remaining construction debris which had been in the building.
