One Iron Horse For A Long Train |
Description: |
Here storming into Long Lake in the early afternoon of the second day of November '07 is this pristine BN-painted (but with "BNSF" initals above the BN logo) wide-nosed SD60 9202. Hope the hogger had a unit with enough ponies horsepower-wise, for it was a long train 9202 had in tow. |

Long Line Of Tank Cars |

The TC&W regularly "blocks" cars for it's trains on the line it shares with the Canadian Pacific from Hopkins to St. Louis Park. Here we have a long line of tanks cars for the unit ethanol trains that run on this line sitting patiently waiting for their motive power. In the distance is the bridge on the CP's former Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern line that crosses the corridor that is split between the old Milwaukee Road and the old Minneapolis and St. Louis mainline, now a rail trail. |

Waiting At Wayzata |
Description: |
A trio of Dash-Nines with a splendidly pristine Warbonnet in the lead with an eastbound grain train in tow await the passing of a westbound on the Wayzata siding. This picture was taken near the County Road 15 bridge that connects 15 to Highway 12. |

Stopped On The Main |
Description: |
Another view of the train that I saw beforehand in Minnetonka. That ex-ATSF GP35 was a honey of a find. Rare to see them on a class 1 as opposed to a shortline these days. |

Heading North |
Description: |
The CP/SOO 0630 job heads north for Western Avenue yard, then on to Humbolt yard. The old MN&S main is a great place to enjoy branchline-style railroading in the Twin Cities! |

Red And White On The Old Dan Patch Line |
Description: |
Two veteran Soo 38-2's are the power the crew on today's MNS 0630 job have at their disposal. They are crossing the oft-photographed bridge on the old Minneapolis, Northfield, & Southern mainline spanning the TC&W (ex-Milwaukee Road) and the Three Rivers Park district trail on the old Louie main. The tank cars on the TCW are for a BNSF unit enthanol train whose motive power will arrive later in the day. Speaking of which, that is my bike parked beside the trail. |

Yellowbonnet And Cascade Green |
Description: |
Post-merger the BNSF was a colorful railroad. With vistas such as these common. Today, thirteen years afterward, they still can be found. Here a pair of veteran 40-2's are the power at the disposal of the crew aboard this eastbound freight departing Wayzata after being briefly stopped for a red signal. Tracks in the foreground are part of the former Dakota Rail interchange. Now used for occasional car storage by the BNSF. |
