One Iron Horse For A Long Train
Title:  One Iron Horse For A Long Train
Description:  Here storming into Long Lake in the early afternoon of the second day of November '07 is this pristine BN-painted (but with "BNSF" initals above the BN logo) wide-nosed SD60 9202. Hope the hogger had a unit with enough ponies horsepower-wise, for it was a long train 9202 had in tow.

Hello, Hello Again UP Number 720
Title:  Hello, Hello Again UP Number 720
Description:  I caught UP 720 on the Golden Valley Industrial Lead job the week before. Now here she is again, at the end of the line just west of Xenium Lane in Plymouth, MN. After a break, the crew will switch the last industry on the line before heading back home. The communications tower to the left is a distinctive landmark in this suburb.

Title:  St. Paul Union Depot Today
Description:  The only intact big city depot in the Twin Cities with hope of return to rail service stands proud and dignified since it was first built in the midst of the Roaring Twenties. A page out of the past whose head house is now home to a Greek restaraunt with a fine coffee shop named "The Boiler Room" in the old information booth area.

Long Line Of Tank Cars
Title:  Long Line Of Tank Cars
Description:  The TC&W regularly "blocks" cars for it's trains on the line it shares with the Canadian Pacific from Hopkins to St. Louis Park. Here we have a long line of tanks cars for the unit ethanol trains that run on this line sitting patiently waiting for their motive power. In the distance is the bridge on the CP's former Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern line that crosses the corridor that is split between the old Milwaukee Road and the old Minneapolis and St. Louis mainline, now a rail trail.

Title:  An Eclectic Mix
Description:  This and it's companion shot came out a wee bit fuzzy for some reason, maybe the lighting conditions did it. Anyay, the MP15 sandwiched between the Dash Nine and 40-2 is a bit of extra freight for the crew on this westbound general manifest racing through Long Lake, for it will be dropped off in Willmar.

Eastbound Bentonite Job Taking The Hole
Title:  Eastbound Bentonite Job Taking The Hole
Description:  An eastbound bentonite train takes the hole in Long Lake. However, the train was just a wee bit too long for the siding. Which necessitated the westbound BNSF Employee Appreciation special having to stop so the bentonite job could pull out at the Wayzata end of the siding and clear the tracks.

Title:  Red And White On The Old Dan Patch Line
Description:  Two veteran Soo 38-2's are the power the crew on today's MNS 0630 job have at their disposal. They are crossing the oft-photographed bridge on the old Minneapolis, Northfield, & Southern mainline spanning the TC&W (ex-Milwaukee Road) and the Three Rivers Park district trail on the old Louie main. The tank cars on the TCW are for a BNSF unit enthanol train whose motive power will arrive later in the day. Speaking of which, that is my bike parked beside the trail.

Yellowbonnet And Cascade Green
Title:  Yellowbonnet And Cascade Green
Description:  Post-merger the BNSF was a colorful railroad. With vistas such as these common. Today, thirteen years afterward, they still can be found. Here a pair of veteran 40-2's are the power at the disposal of the crew aboard this eastbound freight departing Wayzata after being briefly stopped for a red signal. Tracks in the foreground are part of the former Dakota Rail interchange. Now used for occasional car storage by the BNSF.
