Looking towards downtown Minneapolis
Title:  Looking towards downtown Minneapolis
Description:  We are at a lone spur track which marks the western end of what once was Great Northern's Cedar Lake yard. Today it is all that remains of the many tracks that once could be found here. We are looking east towards downtown Minneapolis from this spot on the BNSF Wayzata Sub. Note the old deck girder bridge in the upper right corner. It is amazing the BNSF chose to dump these here rather than send them for scrap!

The Kenilworth Corridor at dusk
Title:  The Kenilworth Corridor at dusk
Description:  We are looking up the Kenilworth Corridor from just north of the Burnham Road bridge towards 21st Street. The ex-Minneapolis & St. Louis main line (now operated by Twin Cities & Western but owned by the Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority) is at the far left. The popular Kenilworth Trail uis in the center. At the right is a prairie restoration experiment. The looming construction of the Southwest Corridor light rail transit line is destined to change this vista considerably. On this September evening, however, it looks like it will remain this way forever.

Loud and Clear
Title:  Loud and Clear
Description:  This anti-freight rail re-route sign expresses its message loud and clear to engineers and conductors aboard trains passing along the MNS Spur past Saint Louis Park High School. It is a message I personally agree with. Why saddle SLP with more freight traffic that will require infrastructrue improvements that will impact many homes and businesses when that traffic can stay where it is?

What Industry is This?
Title:  What Industry is This?
Description:  This industry is located on a spur a block east of Lyndale and 86th Avenue. What industry is this? An article in a February, 1999, issue of RailNews says an industry named Chemrex was located off the old MN&S "High Line" at 86th Street and took tank cars loaded with alcohol. But covered hoppers parked on that spur track now.
