Album Info:I decided to go a different route and in addition to new photos, post some of the ones that I have scanned. Some of these include: The first pictures I took of trains when I was 6 years old in 1996, right up through 2004 with Unpatched UP Predecessor Units and trains around Southest Missouri and any trips I took. From 1996-2000 I used my grandma's Kodak 110 Film Camera, in 2000 I switched to 35mm throwaways, then in June 2001 my first camera was bought for me by my dad, a Kodak Advantix, which I used until August 2004 when I switched to digital, still with Kodak. The only exception to this album is a print scan from 2005 when I didn't have my digital camera.

Title:  Southbound UP Manifest Train - My First Day Railfanning
Description:  This was taken way back when I was 6 years old. This was the second train picture I ever shot. Back before the SP Merger, UP used to run trains southbound on the Hoxie Sub. to North Little Rock like in the Mo-Pac Days. Poplar Bluff was the crew change point before they moved it to Dexter in 1998 with the start of directional running over the former SP's Cotton Belt. The engineer is just about to deboard and head off to the motel. We had just chased the train over from Ash Hill, back when the track speed was 40, it wasn't hard to beat trains into town, now it is 70, and it is quite difficult at times. This was taken with the Kodak 110 Camera that belonged to my Late Grandma Anna Pumphery, or as I knew her, "Mamaw".

Title:  Southbound Light Engine Movement
Description:  An ex-MP Unit comes to a stop in front of the ex-MP Depot on the De Soto Sub. after coming down from St. Louis when the depot was still used by UP as the Crew Change Point. Back when Smiley Container was to the right, you could be blocked in the parking lot if two trains showed up at the same time.

Description:  Back when I was a 10 year old kid, I talked my grandma into letting me use the camera, and my dad into taking me to see this train that sat on the siding for about 4 or 5 days. The last unit in the consist was an SP SD7. The sad part is, I didn't really take roster shot of the Dash-9, even though they were going fast at this point.

Description:  We saw these units being moved around the yard the night before. This Baldwin baby was headed for refurbishment and a new lease on life with SMS Lines. She started out on the Rock Island before going to ASARCO LLC, a mining, smelting, and refining company, you can still make out the marks on the side.

Title:  Ex-IC SW14
Description:  With its P5 still on the cab, ex-IC 1400 awaits unknown disposition in the yard. IC 1400 SW-14 was built as IC 9428 SW7 with builder number 11676 in December 1950 as part of order 4054, sequence 19. Renumbered by IC to 428. Rebuilt by IC Paducah Shops to SW14 in March 1978.

Northbound UP Manifest Train With CNW 6930 and SSW 9652
Title:  Northbound UP Manifest Train With CNW 6930 and SSW 9652
Description:  A lashup made up of Operation Lifesaver CNW 6930 SD40-2 and SSW 9652 GP60 move UP Train MNLPR 23 through the Bluff. CNW 6930 was wrecked a year later and scrapped, sadly. Cotton Belt 9652 lives and soldiers on unpatched. The 6930 would be one of the 5 CNW's I would photograph in revenue service. The sad part is that it rolled over and was destroyed in a UP derailment at Des Plaines, Illinois on 10-21-02 and was later cut up for scrap at Proviso, IL during December 2002. I guess it would rather meet the torch rather than a UP Patch. Thanks to IKE for photo restoration help.

Description:  Here's UP 107, the only B23-7 with an EMD Cab, applied by Mo-Pac after a wreck at Gorham, IL in May 1978 when the unit was only 5 months old. It was used as a local unit in Bluff back in 2002. Sadly, it was retired on April 26, 2005. It became a rebuild core, and was rebuilt into RP20GE Genset UPY 2678 in July 2007, which still rides around on this very frame and trucks. Description:  Even back when I didn't have to drive 8 hours to see a CNW, it was still nice to see them roll through occasionally. This was one of the last 10 operating CNW C44-9W's on the UP System and one of the last 14 at the time. Almost everything on this one was original, even the numberboards! Now, on 9-17-06, there are just 2 active CNW's, and both Dash-9's, CNW 8646 and 8701.
