Album Info:Traveling on Amtrak's Texas Eagle, Capitol Limited, Acela Services, and Downeaster Services! I rode on Amtrak from Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Portland, ME with Site Contributor Kevin Farlow on Peaks Island, ME with his family just off the coast of Portland for vacation. Departing June 28 on #422 I went to Chicago where I met up with Kevin and also met John Poshepny. While I Kev and John, we missed our connection with #30. We had to wait until the next day's #30 to go to Washington D.C. We were provided a hotel room at the Wyndham Resort near O'Hare Airport. On June 29th we saw some CN action and went up to the Sears Tower Skydeck before boarding #30 and arriving in WAS on June 30th too late to board #2172, the Acela Express to Boston. We had to wait until the 10 P.M. departure of The Regional Acela Train #66. Arriving in Boston South Station early on the 1st we had breakfast with his aunt and then rode The T Subway to Boston North Station to board Train # 681. After arriving in Portland and riding the ferry over to Peaks Island. July 2nd we visited the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. July 5th we railfanned the Downeaster, as we did on the 9th. On the 10th we rode Train #682 to Boston North Station for a day trip and a day of railfanning. We went down to South Station where we saw Amtrak Acelas. We saw MBTA Trains all over the city. After eating in the North End with his Aunt Beth at an Italian Restaurant, we arrived back at North Station we viewed more MBTA and boarded Amtrak #685. On July 15th we boarded Train #684 to North Station. We spent the night with his aunt and on the 16th visited Fenway Park and saw a Red Sox Game vs. The Oakland Athletics. The 17th we awoke early to board Train# 2153 Acela Express, what a ride! We arrived in Washington D.C. and made the connection with Train #29 to Chicagos arriving on the 18th we said our good byes and Kevin boarded Train #5, the California Zephyr to Denver and I boarded #21 arriving home the 19th.

Description:  The train rolled into Poplar Bluff at 6:21 A.M., 6 hours and 10 minutes late with Gary Weatherly as the Conductor and Dan Kelly as the Assistant Conductor. I rode the Train #422 Section of it this trip. The train screeched to a halt and Dennis and Betty Glaze who were also riding the train boarded. Dennis and Betty were scheduled to leave tomorrow, but left today due to frequent Eagle Delays, good move!

Description:  At 3:41 P.M. Kevin and I decided to take the ferry and a cab over to the Portland Transportation Center to watch Amtrak leave. This turned out to be true Failfanning. The train backs up from here, which never crossed our minds as we got shots of the "back" of the train. Way to go us! The Backup Locomotive is to the right.
