this is a beautiful example of a Lima 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive built in 1920 as MKT #863 (serial #5942, class H-2-b). The loco served for nearly 30 years before meeting the scrapper's torch in March of 1950 as the roster was taken over by diesels.
