On the handwritten sign, it states - "This loco was built in December of 1950 originally as Chicago Great Western #116A, 1500 hp, total weight of 232,620 lb, 15 feet tall and 50 feet long." |

CNW GP40 #5500 looks like it was in for some overhaul. Unfortunately, the handwritten sign is not legible in the photo. The loco was built by EMD as NYC #3010 in November of 1965. It went to PC #3010, CR #3010 before landing on the CNW roster. No photographer was listed for the original negative. |

Having been involved irecently in a major accident on May 5, 1987 in Tama, Iowa, this loco was in for a major reconstruct and rebuild. The loco was restored and eventually sold to Illinois Central as their GP40-3 #3140. The loco was painted in the IC black shroud and wore the "I-ball" logo on its nose. No photographer was listed for the original negative. |

It eventually was absorbed into the UP roster as UP #5093. After that, it bounced onto four other rosters before ending up as LTEX 5110, the latest one so far. Not sure what its disposition is since last being seen in 2012. No photographer was listed for the original negative. |
