Every so often I find an interesting historical photograph stuck in a batch of photos I have purchased. This is one of them. From what limited information I found, this was a derailment possibly near Bear Creek Village in Pennsylvania. The photo is not an original but states on the back "10/10/1888, Lehihgh Valley, Wreck at Mud Run". Unfortunately, I had to list the date as "1900" to conform to the RRPA date requirements. It comes from the C.L. Andrews collection. Note the sheriff with the badge on his vest by the car and the two bicycles in the background which look like bikes of today! |
