Album Info:These are part of a large collection of St Louis-San Francisco photos recently acquired and are examples of their 4-6-2 Pacifics. Most of these photos were small 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" size. Many in this group did not have any information on the back.

Description:  This is the last 4-6-2 Pacific to be built for the Frisco. This one shown in the Baldwin builder's photo, SLSF #1069 (serial #45701), lasted nearly 20 years before the entire 1060 class was rebuilt as a much heavier and more powerful 4-6-4 by the Frisco shops.

SLSF 4-6-2 #1040 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco)
Title:  SLSF 4-6-2 #1040 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco)
Description:  Here is the first of the class 1040 built by Alco-Schenectady in 1912 with the fireman at his window. Specs - serial #50553, class 1040, 69" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 260,500 lb, tractive effort of 40,805 lb. Later the Frisco shops rebuilt them into oil burners with not much change in the tractive effort. The entire class was "dismissed from service" in the 13 months between 30 November 1950 and 27 December 1951. Unknown photographer.

Description:  Here is the last of the 1040 class to be built by Alco-Schenectady in 1912, SLSF #1059 (serial #50572) had 69" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure and created 40,805 lb of tractive effort. Later the Frisco shops rebuilt them into oil burners with not much change in the tractive effort.
