Description:  Boeck Road (Portage West) at 1342. 286 is an all-autorack train out of St. Paul that is typically through the Portage area around dawn, out of reach for someone who works 3AM-noon on weekdays and thus prefers to sleep in on weekends! It often has cool power like SD70ACUs, SD60s or SD30C-ECOs, so go figure this is what it has the first time I finally have the opportunity to catch one.

Description:  These rebuilds, while still considerably shinier than their unrebuilt AC4400CW cousins, have already built up a layer of grime in their three years or so on the rails. A new batch of rebuilds has recently been released to complete the 8100-series, hopefully I can catch some of them while still clean!

Description:  Based off a post on Facebook, I had got the impression that the leader was one of the group of newly released, factory fresh upper 8100-series. No such luck. This train went around 281 at Dodge West, after the latter train had an air hose separate. This cost me an opportunity to catch it (with its Heritage SD70ACU leader and maroon HLCX Geep in the consist, per the heads up), as I had to leave for home immediately after 287 went by me.

Description:  Of the ten NRE Silvis SD60-3 rebuilds released starting in late 2017, 6300-02 were painted just prior to the reintroduction of the "Golden Beaver." This site has the wrong serial # in for this unit, placing this as ex-SOO 6036/CAD Rail rebuild CP 6236, which I personally have seen still on the rails after 2017. This is actually ex-SOO 6035, one of the nine that escaped the round of CAD Rail rebuilds.

Description:  This spot, a beach/Duck landing on the south bank of the Wisconsin River, provides a view of the tracks of the CP Tomah Subdivision paralleling the north bank. It has been on my bucket list to visit for a while, although the angle isn't ideal for westbounds and there are those blasted power lines in the way.
