Description:  Milwaukee Road #960 is setting out cars at the local grain elevator in Montevideo, MN, on this date in 1948. The 2-6-2 Prairie style loco was built in 1909 by Alco-Brooks and originally carried the number 2136, renumbered in 1912 to 5636, and renumbered to 960 when the massive renumbering took place in 1938. Description:  Originally built by the Milwaukee Shops as #2006, the 2-6-2 Prairie style loco was renumbered in 1912 to 5506, and renumbered 1938 to 915. Looks like the loco has reached the end of its days as it sits in the Bensenville, IL, yard waiting for the scrapper's torch. Originally built in 1907 as #1941, it was renumbered to 5041 in 1912, and renumbered again to 911 in 1938. Specs - class K1, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 205,550 lb, tractive effort of 34,926 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo and the date is approximate.
