Album Info:Here are both covers and the complete contents of a 40-page booklet published by Mr. Harry P. Albrecht entitled "A Picture Study Of The K-4: Including Specifications, Text, Tender Data, Drawings, Roster, and other Information about the Famous Locomotive." It was issued originally during October 1967 and revised in September 1976. "The first Pacific 4-6-2 wheel arrangement locomotive built for the Pennsylvania was completed in 1907 and from that date to 1913, a total of 273 Pacific type locomotives of five different designs were built. In 1914, the first Pacific type locomotive of a new design ~ classified as the K-4s ~ was built at Altoona. This locomotive combined the best features of the previous designs with the addition of what was then new thinking in the art of locomotive building.... In all, 425 K-4s locomotives were built which is the largest number of steam passenger engines of one class to be built by any railroad in this country." (Page 3)

All of these photos show Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1361, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918, retired in September of 1956 after 2,469,000 revenue miles, enshrined at the Horseshoe Curve in June of 1957, restored for excursion service in April of 1987, withdrawn for safety reasons, disassembled for repairs, and still awaiting resuscitation.

Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4800 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric as number "4899" during August of 1934, rated at 4,620 horsepower, renumbered "4800" in November of 1934, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. PRR engine #5426 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1927 and retired in August of 1956 after 29 years of faithful service.
