First, here, coming into CN Southern yard, with just two hoppers and two gondolas (and running long-hood forward no-less). Then, after leaving this four-car consist at the yard, the engine ran light over to CP Welland yard. On the way I caught pics at White Road, and at the Brookfield Wye.

A heavy overnight snowfall has put an icy coating on just about everything. Although my wife gives me hell whenever I go out driving in this type of weather - just to take a train picture - every single time I've been rewarded with a unique landscape - like this frosty winter scene - and come home with my pic of the month! Even she liked this one...

Description:  Ice cold, bitter winds, and just one train at Port Robinson today. But it turned out to be a beauty! Just before noon I caught BCOL 4609 turning on the Wye at Port Robinson West, preparing to build Train 562. I waited and waited, but the train didn't leave the yard until mid-afternoon - fortunately my patience paid off, with a sparkling shot at Cambridge siding, and then after a wee chase, I caught the train again at Brookfield Road. On the point today BCOL 4609 - a Draper Taper Dash-8 - one of my all-time favorite locomotives.

Description:  A freakish snow and sun combo made for a very interesting morning chasing trains. Watch as CP Train 255 literally emerges from severe snow squalls and high winds coming out of Fort Erie, right smack into the bright sunshine as it got further northwest, out of the path of the storm. On my second chase, CN Train 562, after catching a nice shot in the sunshine at Southern Yard, I followed it south, but found myself driving right into the storm again, so headed for home. Here, CP Train 255 emerges from the whipping winds and heavy snows that are busy pelting Fort Erie and Buffalo. Less than 100 feet away is clear skies and bright sunshine.
