CMRR #1 "The Duck"
Title:  CMRR #1 "The Duck"
Description:  The Catskill Mountain Railroad #1, a Davenport 35 Tonner, fitted with an original Hancock Air Whistle, called "The Duck" because of a small rubber duck mounted on its hood, sits (though fully operational) in the dead-line at Phoenicia, New York. CMRR #1 was built in 1942 for the US Army, before being sold to the U.S. Air Force, Matthews Co. and the Illinois Railroad Museum before finally coming to the Catskill Mountain Railroad.

Phoenicia Dead-Line
Title:  Phoenicia Dead-Line
Description:  The dead-line in Phoenicia holds some real rust buckets and some gems, seen here are a rusted GE 45 Tonner without a road number and with its original serial number still painted on the side of the cab, a fully restored vintage New York Central Transfer Caboose and Catskill Mountain Railroad #1, a Davenport 35 Tonner, even fitted with a Hancock Air Whistle, known as "The Duck".

CMRR #29 "The Goat"
Title:  CMRR #29 "The Goat"
Description:  Catskill Mountain Railroad Porter 45 Ton switcher #29 known as "The Goat" sits on the Mt. Pleasant Rip Track, situated in woods nestled between Mt. Pleasant and the Esopus River. The shiny rails in the weeds on the right is, believe it or not, the Catskill Mountain Railroads mainline, which took significant damage during Hurricane Irene, after the storm, the line speed limit was reduced from 25mph to 10mph (less in some areas) and completely shut down the line west of Phoenicia.

CMRR Extra #407 East and Tremper Mountain
Title:  CMRR Extra #407 East and Tremper Mountain
Description:  As the wind blows the orange and red leaves of oak trees high on Tremper Mountain, Catskill Mountain Railroad ALCo #407 is making its way along Route 28 in Mt. Tremper, New York with one of the railroads Fall Foliage Extras. Due to the extra passengers (so many that people were beginning to park on the roads), the railroad had to use a new open air car that wasnt fully restored yet to accommodate the extra passengers, and I think some still couldnt get seats on the train. I was quite lucky to still have so many leaves on the trees here, as the wind had ripped every remaining leaf off the trees at my house, but it seemed their color was slightly behind here and had managed to hold on, even with the 60mph winds we had the night before.

CMRR #42s Fresh Coat of Paint
Title:  CMRR #42s Fresh Coat of Paint
Description:  After giving up with photographing the Fall Foliage Trains between Boiceville and Phoenicia, I headed to Kingston, where I found the previously awful looking, bright orange GE 45 Ton Switcher #42 coupled to several ex-NYC coaches, though I didnt recognize the locomotive at first. Because one of the Catskill Mountain Railroads hard working volunteers was busy hand painting the locomotive with can of Cabots paint, though this paint will probably ware off in a few years time, it looks quite nice, at least compared to the former paint of this locomotive.

Ex-GMRC #401 in Kingston
Title:  Ex-GMRC #401 in Kingston
Description:  Though GE 45 Ton Switcher #42 was out of service today, the train still had its normal power, ex-Green Mountain Railroad ALCo RS-1 #401 with its original Hancock Air Whistle ready to sound for the next crossing, as the train passes an abandoned siding on its return to Westbrook Lane in Kingston.

Title:  Catskill Mountain Flyer Rolling Across the Hurley Flats
Description:  On May 27th 2017, the Catskill Mountain Railroad began running their regularly scheduled Summer trains by starting the operation of a new Kingston-based passenger train known as the Catskill Mountain Flyer. The burnt out rear left headlight on Catskill Mountain Railroad ALCo-GE RS-1 #401 is clearly visible as the Catskill Mountain Flyer eases across the Hurley Flats with the venerable ALCo in the lead on the second run of the day.

Title:  Lightning Stripes on the Hurley Flats
Description:  On May 27th 2017, the Catskill Mountain Railroad began running their regularly scheduled Summer trains by starting the operation of a new Kingston-based passenger train known as the Catskill Mountain Flyer. New York Central and their famed "Lightning Stripes" almost appear to still be riding the rails of the former NYC Catskill Mountain Branch as the Catskill Mountain Railroads #401, an ex-Green Mountain Railroad ALCo-GE RS-1, rolls to a stop with the Catskill Mountain Flyer at the Route 209 Crossing on the Hurley Flats to allow the crossing to be flagged before proceeding west up Hurley Mountain.
