Description:  The engine leased from Colorado Springs, to be rehabilitated for use on the C&TS. The boiler tested OK! This one predated the K-27 class. A close sister (D&RG 169) is found 30 miles away in Alamosa.

Description:  The narrow guage engines, especially the 400 series, had to splay the pistons out further than the wheels. This gave them the look a small squatting mudhen. Thus the name.
