Description:  The lead power of the second southbound TXUX train I saw this day approaches College Av in Neosho behind a BNSF and two KCS units. On the rear is a another BNSF unit and two Mexican units for the 135 loads going south. KCS operating practice has changed over time, though now the trains are longer. For a long time, they were 125 cars on this run. The latest few I have seen are in the 135 car range, and running the power 3x3, instead of 2x3 they had been doing with 125 car trains. For the last couple of years, the power has been home road in a 2x1 configuration, with KCS adding two units as rear DPUs, after several years of mid train DPUs, two units cut in about 85 cars deep.

Rare sight

Description:  The KCS had 70 of these SD70MACs lettered for TFM. Not long after I moved to Siloam, they started to renumber and reletter them KCS, putting them in the 3900 series. Now, almost ten years into that program, there are still a few TFM units left, but not very many. I was in the right place at the right moment to catch this one on the rear of a TXUX coal train, along with a KCSM unit assisting the through road power.
