Album Info:In November 2006 I moved to Rogers Ark, then six months later to Siloam Springs, on the Heavener Sub. Since then, I have taken a lot of photos on the KCS in my new home town. This album contains anything I took between Davidson Rd, MP 226.5, and Elm St, approximately MP 233.

Belle DPUs
Title:  Belle DPUs
Description:  The configuration of coal trains flexes over time. Sometimes they run 2x2x1, then operating philosophy will change, and theyll go 2x3, then 3x2, then back to 2x3. For a long time, when the practice was 2x2x1, KCS would add helpers about 85 cars deep, leaving the home road power solo on the rear. Once again, we are in a 2x3 mode, and KCS has added their DPUs on the rear, which is where we find them on this southbound AEPX train crossing Cheri Whitlock Rd. Todays set includes a unit from south of the border.

Waiting
Title:  Waiting
Description:  Trains spend a lot of time waiting. This one is north of Country Club Rd, where there is enough track space to fit a 125 car coal train between here and the next crossing north, Davidson Rd. The KCS is pretty good about not blocking crossings in town any longer than needed for a meet. There was a northbound empty AEPX train on the way up from Watts-slowly. This southbound was here about 20 minutes before he moved.

DPU at speed
Title:  DPU at speed
Description:  I was on my way to church last Sunday, when I came up on the Lincoln Av crossing to find the gates down, and a coal train on the crossing. As I pulled up, I saw there was a northbound manifest in the siding. I always have a camera in the car, so I opened the window and grabbed this shot of the DPU going past the stopped train.

All gone
Title:  All gone
Description:  The tail end of the final DPU unit passes the head end of the northbound manifest in the siding. Oddly, the BNSF unit was working an AEPX train, which had UP power leading.
