Sky of gray, sea of green |
Description: |
With apologies to the Beatles. Sky of blue was a some time thing in this region, but the green was everywhere, even on the diesels. MEBU and 68 cars in the green of summer corn. |

Used to be three here |
Description: |
MEBU rolls west at Waverly, where there is a lot of space between tracks 1 and 2. Up til the end of EL days, there was a siding between the two, one of two places on the Tier where this existed, the other being on the Buffalo Sub at Canaseraga. |

Flying meet |
Description: |
Catching a meet on a double track railroad is a chancy prospect: you have to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. I was on this day, as BUME behind a set of NYSW power, meets TV 203 at speed. Shot from the car window. |

Susprised |

I was heading east on NY 17C when I ran across this guy. Wish I had known, could have gotten a better shot. Even so, hard to resist a grab shot of an ex Reading unit still in green and one of the rebuilt lightning stripe units on this ABBU. |

BUME rolls out the east end of Owego, which is welcoming folks heading west along NY 17C. Theyre probably glad to see the train go, as its 60 cars have the crossings tied up. |

Shaky HAN |
Description: |
HAN 1 rolls west along the Susquehanna on a day gloomy enough to make the power blur as it goes past. The NS unit was a surprise. NYSW had enough power most of the time that they did not need to run NS or CSX power through to Jersey any more, and it had become unusual to see it in Bingamton by this time. It would have a resurgence later in the 90s as stack traffic increased, and the 20 CSX financed B 40s went back to them after the CP purchase of the D&H. |

Foggy morning for NY 9 |
Description: |
NY 9 rolls out of the fog at Campville. I had just come off the hill where I lived then as the train was going west. Too bad its a work day. It would be fun to chase the three B40's and F45 that have the train in hand. |

Looks like KL 1 |
Description: |
Six NYSW units lead what looks like a KL 1, but was called MEBU on the radio. There were probably not enough cars to run the trains separately-the car count was 73 on this train-so they were combined, saving a crew start. We see the train near the Tioga County transfer station, about where the LV Auburn Branch ducked under the EL. Two of the original four B40's are on this train. |
