Description:  The tank car (coupled to BNSF 5815) and this older unit hitching a ride to Minneapolis from Willmar were part of the head end lashup on an eastbound BNSF freight I came across after the dispatcher stopped the train in town. I wonder if the crew on the lead unit took time to admire the hoar frost on the nearby trees?

The Bridge Is Coming Back!
Title:  The Bridge Is Coming Back!
Description:  I learned via another RRPictureArchives user that the Dan Patch swing bridge over the Minnesota River was getting some major rehab work done. Sure enough, that work was continuing when I stood on the hill above the span to snap this photo. It sure is a sight for sore eyes to see! Thank you, Twin Cities & Western, for the foresight in buying and keeping this bridge which will soon witness the passing of trains to and from the Port of Savage.

Not So Overgrown Here
Title:  Not So Overgrown Here
Description:  The MN&S main is not so overgrown northwest of Quentin Avenue, doubtless because of how TC&W used this portion as a tail track when leaving the Port of Savage. I wonder if they will not only fix this up but possibly extend the rehab a bit further southeast to allow for longer trains?

The TC&W Must Have Left This
Title:  The TC&W Must Have Left This
Description:  The TC&W used a portion of the MN&S main line south of Highway 13 as a tail track during their original operations in Savage. I found this sign lying on the east side of the main northwest of the Quentin Avenue trestle. Is TC&W going to extend the tail track to south of Quentin Avenue and the Credit River? Note the shadow of the bold interloper playing Indiana Jones on the old MN&S on this gorgeous early March afternoon.
