Milwaukee Junction In The Morning
Title:  Milwaukee Junction In The Morning
Description:  A morning portrait of Milwaukee Junction. This is where the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern once connected with the Milwaukee Road via a somewhat roundabout track arrangement located in an industrial area known as Skunk Hollow. The connection remains intact and is occasionally used by the Twin Cities & Western. It is also utilized by Canadian Pacific to serve a shipper, J.B. Hill Company.

Title:  The MN&S Lives
Description:  The Progressive Rail crew approaches Old Shakopee Road after departing Auto Club Junction bound for the string of interchange awaiting them up by Nesbitt Siding. M&St.L. Closed, Milwaukee Road Open
Title:  M&St.L. Closed, Milwaukee Road Open
Description:  The former Minneapolis & St. Louis route down into Chaska--now the River Bluffs Trail--is closed at its most scenic part. The old Milwaukee Road and Milwaukee Depot (left) remain open for business thanks to the Canadian Pacific and Twin Cities & Western. Did the Minneapolis & St. Louis ever have to deal with "mudslides and unstable slopes" when it operated below the Minnesota River valley bluffs near Chaska?

Title:  At Last!
Description:  I have long wanted to photograph a train traveling on the MNS Spur at Valley Lane in Edina. This morning my dream came true! I find it interesting that today's 0630 is a mix of old and new power after chasing one earlier this month which had a matched pair of ECO GP20Cs for power.

Northbound Cars First
Title:  Northbound Cars First
Description:  The 0630 crew pulls out the northbound cars from the consist. The hopper car contains salt from J.B. Hill Company in St. Louis Park, while the six boxcars were picked up at Western Avenue Yard in Golden Valley. I do not know where the Hill Salt car is going, probably it was up to Humboldt, but the boxcars were probably going to an industry located east of Glenwood Junction that CP serves.

Northbound Cars Onto Nesbitt
Title:  Northbound Cars Onto Nesbitt
Description:  The 0630 crew pushes seven northbound cars onto Nesbitt Siding. After they drop off the interchange for Progressive Rail at Nesbitt, they will run up to the other end of the siding, couple on, and take the Hill Salt car probably to Humboldt Yard and the boxcars to an industry located east of Glenwood Junction that Canadian Pacific serves. The 0630's crew is thus only halfway through their work on this fine Labor Day 2015.
