Description:  I was surprised to revisit an old Geep I saw traveling west in Tipton, IN back in August of 2005! The thing I remember best about this unit is its AWFUL P5. Only its two highest-pitched chimes were operational, so in 2005 when I heard this horn, I wasn't even sure if it was a train I was hearing.

Description:  NS 96W arrives at LS Junction with FRA geometry car DOTX 217. The car will eventually be delivered to the Paducah & Louisville through a convoluted route involving CSX and the Louisville & Indiana. Apparently, it was decided the NS - PAL connection at LS Junction was too tight for the car to negotiate. The sign at right marks one mile from the CSX crossing at Fourth Street.

Description:  In an era where high horsepower, widecab six axle locomotives rule the mainline, occasionally you get a flashback to the past on locals and yard jobs. In this case, here we see a brace of three former Southern high hood GP38-2's working the P&G Yard in the Cincinnati suburb of Elmwood Place. While the leader wears the latest NS "Horsehead" scheme, the two trailing units wear the older style NS paint and logos, complete with "CNOTP" initials still intact under the cab numbers. And yes, the sound was AWESOME!
