PRR 5474, K-4S, 1947
Title:  PRR 5474, K-4S, 1947
Description:  Coal Power. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Englewood, Illinois, on 20 July 1947. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5474 and #5399. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics." #5474 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in May of 1948, while #5399 was constructed in Juniata in August of 1924 and retired in November of 1953. Many thanks to Mr. Robert Hess for identifying the latter locomotive.

PRR 5474, K-4S, c. 1947
Title:  PRR 5474, K-4S, c. 1947
Description:  Here is an original photo that was taken in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5474, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in May of 1948 after 21 years of faithful service. Looks to me like it's all set for another run on the New York & Long Branch line to South Amboy. The photographer's name and the date are not recorded. Wilson E. Jones Collection; #2 of 6.
