Description:  Good example of the type of 4-4-2 American style steam locomotive built by PRR Juniata Shops in Altoona, PA. This was came out in August of 1914 (serial #2857) and lasted until May of 1952 when it met the scrapper's torch. J.R. Quinn took this photo.

Description:  Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Robert Wanner that was taken in Reading, Pennsylvania, in May of 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1600, an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during July of 1914 and retired in April of 1956 after 42 years of faithful service. Looks to me like it's takin' a spin on the ol' turntable! The road number of the Baldwin-built diesel at the right is not recorded.

Description:  Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1600, an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata in July of 1914 and retired in April of 1956. Awaiting orders to proceed, #1600 and its crew are poised at the Passenger Station in Reading, Pennsylvania, on 4 October 1953. According to Mr. Gregory D. Pawelski, "It's the last regularly-scheduled PRR passenger train from Philadelphia to Reading on display before returning to Philly." Roy Healey Collection; #6 of 40.
