Several UP units were coupled together in Brigham City. Among them was this particularly interesting SD-40-2; UP 9839. From my understanding when UP gives an SD-40 a number in the 9000 series it is a sign that its as built appearance will soon give way to a SD-40N rebuild. Come to think of it; it is possible this train with over six locomotives on it could be the Malad Local tied down. I am not %100 sure, but the Malad local is known to be power heavy. |
