CB&Q E5 9910A
Title:  CB&Q E5 9910A
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E5 9910A, named Silver Speed, at Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on August 21, 1949, print by Willian A. Raia, Chuck Zeiler collection. Hand written on the back of the print is J. Scribbins, who may be the original photographer. The trailing E5B unit MAY be 9910B, named Silver Power, but I could not definitvely make out the name. This would appear to be an expanded Train number 23, the Afternoon Zephyr, also known as the Twin Cities Zephyr. This assumption is based on the lighting (afternoon sun), and the exhaust smoke rising from mid-train. That smoke is produced by the power generators in the lead car of the articulated trainset built for the Second Twin Cities Zephyr, originally a seven-car set, later reassigned to the Nebraska Zephyr and later still reduced to five cars. An example of this trainset is at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois, and the second set is rumored to be in Saudi Arabia.
