Description:  SP GP35 6590, Phoenix, Arizona, October 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in June 1964 as road number 7478 (c/n 29564) on EMD Order 5669, it was renumbered to 6590 in 1965. The SP had a couple of rebuilding programs starting in 1977, and locomotives that did not already have the SP five light package at both ends had them installed during rebuilding. However, I can find no evidence that this particular locomotive was ever rebuilt.
