Title:  309 looks a lot like 556
Description:  Except for the NYSW unit leading. Even a year into the CP operation of the D&H, NYSW power still showed up on a variety of trains that were not the normal stack train run throughs from Jersey to Buffalo. Here we have one of the B 40s leading 309 with three more units and 42 cars, coming through BX into East Binghamton from Mechanicville. There are two notable units in the consist. PLM 3041 is one of the EMD 645 engine test bed units, and trailing is one of the few RS 36's left on the roster, 5023.

Description:  Earlier this year, I shot BUOI here in a spring scene with the forsythia in bloom, and the green trees still short. Theyre getting bigger, now starting to obscure the train. In a couple of years, theyll make a photo here impossible. A GATX leader has what looks like is an 892 coal train. Note the PLM unit. It is in an SD45 carbody, and was one of the EMD test bed units for the 645 engine in the 1960's.

Description:  an 891 train waits on the Buffalo Runner for a new crew to take it west to Buffalo on the Tier. Appropriately, the train sits next to the old D&H station. The second unit is noteworthy: it was one of the EMD 645 test beds back in the 60's, from the program that developed the prime mover that eventually was used in several thousand EMD locomotives over the next 15 years.

Title:  Gator and a semaphore.
Description:  The semaphore at 247-2 was easy to access, as it was close to the road, and there was a driveway to the MOW road, which was the old LV line. On a nice day it was a great shot with the blade against the blue sky. Heres 261X with 45 TOFC behind a GATX lease unit rolling west past the signal.
