Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5860 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5860 was built in February of 1948. Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken just East of the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5860 and two more E-7's whose numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5860 was built in February of 1948. In this context, this A-B-A set of locomotives is pulling Train #22 down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve and will soon stop at the Altoona Passenger Station on their way to Harrisburg and points East. Visible in front of the Harrisburg Engine House are (R to L) Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5860, #5598, and two more "EP" Class units. #5860 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in February of 1948 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5598 is a BS-7M built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in May of 1950, rated at 750 horsepower, and retired in December of 1966. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. (#12 of 12)
