Description:  This "boomer" loco has bounced from roster to roster after starting out in Januray of 1959 as Nickel Plate Road GP9 #813 and then to NW to DME to MNN. In 2013 just 12 years after this picture was taken by Eric Berg, it bounced again to their sister railroad, Otter Tail Valley RR as their #1483.

MNN GP #1463 - Minnesota Northern
Title:  MNN GP #1463 - Minnesota Northern
Description:  Minnesota Northern GP9 #1463 sits in front of a short line of locos at the Otter Tail Valley RR engine house in Fergus Falls. With it is sister line Otter Tail Valley GP18 #181 and Minnesota Northern GP9 #1483. Originally built by EMD as Nickel Plate GP9 #533, it was merged into the N&W roster as #2533. It was later sold sometime in the mid-1980's to Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern as their #1463. Finally it ended up on the Minnesota Northern line sometime in early 2000. Note the identical patriotic paint scheme used for both the Minnesota Northern and the Otter Tail Valley at this date. Eric Berg photo.

Description:  Sitting in front of the Otter Tail Valley RR engine house is Minnesota Northern GP9 #1483. Built by EMD in January of 1959 as Nickel Plate Road #813, it was absorbed onto the Norfolk & Western roster as their #2813, then sold to Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern as their #1483 before finally landing on the Minnesota Northern roster. Description:  The OTVR is shoving half a coal train into the yard and will take the other half to Fergus Falls. The hill out of Barnesville and the other at Rothsay are just to much for the power to handle, so half trains at a time is the norm.
