Title:  WAMX 4175 behind 6334
Description:  This unit ran as WSOR 4006 in the Gardner era, and was one of the initial group of six ex-Rock Island SD40-2s acquired by the railroad in the early 2000s. Still no luck for me in finding sister 4170 (formerly WSOR 4001) in its new 40th Anniversary scheme.

Title:  WAMX 4172 and the two veteran Helm sisters on the fuel ramp
Description:  6334 and 6313 have been on the WSOR (6313 apparently disappeared for a while, but came back) since early 2017. I'm still annoyed I never got a good shot of 6305 (MPI paint) during its brief stint in 2019.

An interesting hodgepodge of power in front of the roundhouse
Title:  An interesting hodgepodge of power in front of the roundhouse
Description:  The Helm sisters would seem to be shop queens, since I always see them here of late. Coupled to them is 4192, and also in the shot are 4197 (latest "standard" red and gray repaint) and 4219 (ex-CP, only one with a low headlight).

A who's who of WSOR power
Title:  A who's who of WSOR power
Description:  From left, we have 4170, the class unit of what were the original six ex-CRIP SD40-2s acquired by the railroad in the early 2000s (then numbered 4001). It has been recently repainted into a special 40th Anniversary scheme. Then is 4219, ex-CP and the only red and gray unit with a low headlight. 6334 is one of the two Helm lease units (6313 is coupled behind it) than has been on the property since 2017. 4181, trailing the five-unit power move, is ex-BN and one of the last units acquired by the railroad in the Gardner era. 3947, facing off with the lead unit of the power move on the same track, is the first "new" unit brought on to the property under Watco ownership.

Title:  One of the longtime Helm shop queens sits in front of the roundhouse
Description:  HLCX 6334 and 6313 have been on the WSOR property pretty much all of the time since summer 2017 (I believe one of them may have left for a few months). It seems they're almost always in Janesville when I go there.

Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Title:  Mismatched Doors and Nose Geese
Description:  4182 and 4223 (only SD45 carbody on the WSOR) are two of the five (the others being 4181, 4219 and 4197) six-axle units in the "standard" Watco-era version of the red and gray scheme with the thick gray stripe (instead of the narrow, alternating red and gray chevrons) and white goose logo on the short hood. They also both have mismatched all-gray cab doors on the front side. This was done to 4223 sometime in 2020 (I caught it leading in early January still with its proper door), and 4182 sometime between March and September 2020.

Crossing Forster Drive
Title:  Crossing Forster Drive
Description:  Although the original 8" Griswold lamps were replaced with the ubiquitous oversized L.E.D.s within the last few years, this crossing still retains its wide-pedestal gate mechanisms which were a common installation on both the C&NW and Milwaukee Road. Similar sets on E. Johnson Street, Baldwin Street, and Sherman Avenue have been replaced over the course of the last decade.

L724 passes the WSOR Burro crane
Title:  L724 passes the WSOR Burro crane
Description:  The Burro set seems to be permanently stored on this siding in Cross Plains, as it's always here when I go by. Never thought to include it in a shot with a train until now. I broke off the chase of L469 after it cleared Olin Avenue to catch up with this, the other train I had a heads up on for this day.

Crossing Center Street
Title:  Crossing Center Street
Description:  Like nearly every crossing on the WSOR by this point in time, the Milwaukee Road or C&NW-era 8" incandescent lamps on the signals have been replaced with 12" LEDs. However, this crossing has not yet had the entire signals replaced with new gated ones, and the uniquely small, high-pitched Western Railroad Supply Co. "mini" mechanical bell remains. It seems the Milwaukee Road was a fairly heavy user of these bells, with at least two or three remaining on all of WSOR's ex-MILW lines out of Madison until the signal replacements began in earnest under Watco ownership in the mid-2010s.

Rounding the curve past the Old Feed Mill Restaurant
Title:  Rounding the curve past the Old Feed Mill Restaurant
Description:  More Milwaukee Road-style switch stands are evident in this shot. WSOR has begun to replace them around their system under Watco ownership, but the Prairie Sub remains a stronghold for now. The switch the power is on is the west leg of the wye for the Sauk City branch, out of service except for car storage since the Wisconsin River bridge was partially demolished due to shifting piers in 1998.

Title:  Rocking and rolling toward the "Blynn Bend"
Description:  Finally got my 25 MPH runby and called it a chase...the crew said on the radio they were going to park it in Spring Green, anyway. Most of the slow orders which had been repealed the last time I chased a train out on this line prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, seem to have been re-instated.
