Number 8076 was built in May 1979 ( c/n 42387 ) and was repainted in SPSF paint sometime between June 1985-86. Eventually it became CRL 548 and later UP 573. Original total of 36 units, numbered UP 564-599 (UP 590 and 599 were not delivered); rebuilt from C30-7s to C36Ms by Metro-East Industries, East St. Louis, Illinois, and by VMV Enterprises, Paducah, Kentucky. Assigned UP 63-95 and 97-99 in December 1999 (leaving UP 96 number slot for use by the Heritage Fleet SW10); no units were renumbered prior to being returned to Helm Financial in late March 2000.
