Wayne Division drawn by a 3-unit, 6,000-horsepower diesel locomotive." Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9465 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are FF-20's built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #9465 was constructed in January of 1948 and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. Description:  Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop storage yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1963. Prominent here is PRR engine #9465, an FF-20 built by Fairbanks-Morse in January of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, it's being "cannibalized" for parts. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded.
