Description:  Here is the photo on page 38 of a 40-page book published by Louis T. Henderson entitled "Trains: A Children's Picture Book Of Trains And Stories About Them." It was issued originally in 1935. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3844, #5223, #5214, and three more locomotives whose numbers are not recorded. All were constructed in Juniata. Engine #3844 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in March of 1923 and retired in December of 1949. Engines #5223 and #5214 are both K-2SA (4-6-2) "Pacifics": #5223 was built in October of 1912 and retired in February of 1931, while #5214 was built in February of 1912 and retired in July of 1936.

Description:  Here is a photo that was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 97. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3844, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1923 and retired in December of 1949 after 26 years of faithful service. It's pulling a passenger train past the Kittanning Point Station on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Note the semaphores on the signal bridge.
