This is another Alco S2 built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1949 with a serial #76941 and a class DS-10j. It was a turbocharged ALCO 6-539 4-cycle engine rated at 1000 Hp. In this photo, it's wearing the marron/gray "script" paint scheme. Although retired 12/82, it was sold to A. Merilees 1985 and then sold again to Donohue Bros later in 1985. The cab roof was lowered for mill clearances and renumbered to 1079. Date is approximate. |

Here is another 1949 Montreal Locomotive Works S2 switcher. This was from the DS-10j class and was a turbocharged ALCO 6-539 4-cycle engine rated at 1000 Hp. It worked the yards until retirement in December of 1982. In 1985, it was sold to A. Merilees 1985 and then resold to Donohue Bros. THe cab roof was lowered for mill clearances and renumbered to 1079. The date of this photo is approximate. No photographer listed for this one. |
